Samsung will be releasing the next iteration of their Galaxy S-series smartphones, the Galaxy S 5 flagship device, around April this year. At least, that's the plan according to Samsung's executive vice president for mobile Lee Young-hee.

The device may, according to a Bloomberg report, feature iris scanning functions as a security measure - a slightly different take on the fingerprint scanners that are gaining popularity at the moment.

Whenever the Galaxy S 5 launched, it will be bringing with it a redesigned version of the company's Galaxy Gear smartwatch, one that is not quite as large as the device that is already on the market.

Samsung has also said that it will contain more advanced features, it's likely that the company has learned a lot from their initial foray into wearable devices.
