Toshiba are making their first foray into the world of Windows-based tablets with the new Encore 8-inch slate, due to become available in the State in November this year.
The Encore makes use of a 1280 x 800 multi-touch HFFS display, backed by an unspecified (for the moment) Intel Atom processor. 32GB of internal storage will be standard (with microSD expansion) and Toshiba is packing in an 8MP camera, the standard lot of sensors and stero speakers.
The Encore features micro-HDMI, microUSB (2.0) and support for the full 802.11 wireless standard, including 802.11 a.
The Encore is deisgned to function with Windows 8.1 and Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing at Toshiba America Information Systems has said in a statement that “…with the new features that Windows 8.1 brings, we believe that Encore will deliver more choice against a range of competitive tablets.”
Pricing and availability isn’t confirmed closer to home yet but the US launch price is set at $330 (R3250) for the 32GB Encore.
